CHICAGO (Sept. 1, 2025) – Chicago Fire FC II and MLS NEXT Pro today announced Chicago Fire Academy midfielder Chase Nagle has been named MLS NEXT Rising Star of Matchweek 25 following his performance in a 2-2 draw and shootout victory at New England Revolution II on Sunday, Aug. 31.

Nagle, 16, received the first league honor of his career after playing 90 minutes against New England at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. In the 22nd minute of the match, the Academy midfielder combined with midfielder Jhoiner Montiel to get behind the defense and slot home the opening goal of the match. The goal was his first in MLS NEXT Pro, proving crucial to Chicago Fire II’s road draw and ensuing shootout win that earned an additional point.

The award is the Fire’s third such honor of the season after Academy goalkeepers David Molenda and Patrick Los were also named Rising Stars of the Matchweek. Molenda last earned a mention in Matchweek 23 following a seven-save clean sheet in a 2-0 win over second-place Philadelphia Union II on July 15. Los also posted his third shutout of the year in a 1-0 win at Chattanooga FC on July 5 that earned him the award for Matchweek 17.

Chicago Fire FC II opens a two-game homestand with a matinee matchup against FC Cincinnati 2 on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Kickoff at SeatGeek Stadium is slated for 2 p.m. CT. The match is free to attend and view on MLSNEXTPro.com.
