Chicago Fire FC winger Phillip Zinckernagel is back with the best of Major League Soccer as the MLS All-Stars take on the Liga MX All-Stars in the 2026 MLS All-Star Game in Charlotte.
The Danish winger was named to the MLS All-Star roster for the second year in a row, this time by Charlotte FC and MLS All-Star head coach Dean Smith. His inclusion is of little surprise to Fire fans given his five goals and seven assists in 2026. The assist tally is on track with his record-breaking 2025 season, which saw tally a single-season Club record 15 to go with 15 goals.
This year's MLS All-Star roster will once again be stacked with some of the best talent in the sport, including current Golden Boot leader Petar Musa (FC Dallas), global icons Son Heung-Min (LAFC) and Thomas Müller (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), former league MVP Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC) and many more. U.S. Men's National Team and Charlotte FC defender Tim Ream will don the captain's armband for the MLS All-Stars, just as he does for club and country.
Liga MX will send a roster just as replete with stars as their opponent. Fresh off significant playing time in FIFA World Cup 2026 with the Mexico Men's National Team, Érik Lira (Cruz Azul), Jesús Gallardo (Toluca) and Israel Reyes (Club América) are among the headliners in a list that also features league figures like Salomón Rondon (Pachuca) and Fernando Gorriarán (Tigres UANL). The Liga MX All-Stars are led by Deportivo Toluca head coach Antonio Mohamed, who won back-to-back league titles in 2025 before clinching the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The 2026 edition of the annual showcase will be the fifth between All-Star teams from both leagues, with MLS taking the first two iterations in 2021 and 2022 before Liga MX got a dominant 4-1 victory in 2024. Forwards Sam Surridge and Tai Baribo tallied in the 2025 edition before Zinckernagel assisted Brian White in a 3-1 victory for the MLS All-stars last year in Austin.

- Philip Zinckernagel was named an MLS All-Star for the second time in as many seasons with Chicago. The winger is the first Fire player to be named to two consecutive MLS All-Star Games since Cuauhtémoc Blanco and Bakary Soumare in the 2008 and 2009 editions.
- In his first MLS All-Star Game last year in Austin, Zinckernagel recorded the first goal contribution by a Fire player in an MLS All-Star Game since the Club’s first Designated Player, midfielder Cuauhtémoc Blanco, scored in the 45th minute of the 2008 MLS All-Star Game against West Ham United.
- Zinckernagel recorded the first assist for a Fire player at an All-Star Game since Blanco in the 2008 game. Before that, defender Carlos Bocanegra assisted LA Galaxy’s Carlos Ruiz game-winning goal in the 68th minute of the 2003 MLS All-Star Game against CD Guadalajara.
