Chicago Fire FC Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter has named the following Starting XI looking for their fifth road win of the season:
- Chicago will see two changes to the Starting XI that fell 3-1 against NYCFC last Sunday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx
- Homegrown defender Christopher Cupps will make the second regular season start of his career, replacing Sam Rogers (torso) at center back. His first start was a record-breaking one, becoming the youngest player to start a regular season game in Club history against Orlando at Soldier Field on May 3. As in his first start, he will line up next to Jack Elliott, who wears the captain’s armband for the 10th time in the regular season.
- Rominigue Koaumé will replace Brian Gutiérrez (suspended) in the midfield for his second start of the regular season and fourth across all competitions. The midfielder has seen the field in eight matches in the regular season, scoring in his first appearance with the Club in Vancouver, and last tallying the game-winner in the Fire’s 2-1 home win over Atlanta United on May 10.
- Fresh off becoming the first Homegrown player to reach 10,000 minutes in Major League Soccer last Sunday, midfielder Mauricio Pineda will line up next to Kouamé in the midfield for his 112th regular season start. Pineda and Kouamé will be joined by another Homegrown midfielder, Sergio Oregel Jr., who appears in his 14th match of 2025.
- Another Chicago Fire Academy graduate who reached the 10,000-minute mark last Sunday, Andrew Gutman, will start his 15th match of the year. The left back will line up opposite Jonathan Dean, who makes his fourth consecutive start and ninth overall this year.
- Backing up the backline will be Homegrown goalkeeper Chris Brady, who will start his 14th match of 2025 in goal ahead of a call-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team in June.
- Looking for a fourth goal in a row across all competitions is winger Philip Zinckernagel, who starts for the 14th time this season. He will also look for his fifth assist of the season in support of leading Fire goal scorer Hugo Cuypers and Ivorian winger Jonathan Bamba.
- Beside Gutiérrez and Rogers, defenders Carlos Terán (Lower Body) and Chase Gasper (Lower Body); and midfielders David Poreba (Lower Body) and Chris Mueller (Not Due to Injury) are unavailable for selection today.
- Available off the bench are goalkeeper Jeff Gal; defenders Leonardo Barroso and Omar González; midfielders Maren Haile-Selassie, Kellyn Acosta, Omari Glasgow, Dje D’Avilla and Sam Williams; and forward Tom Barlow.
